The Challenge for the Client
After speaking with RVA Surveyors, JPG decided to pursue further if a significant reduction could be achieved for their new showroom. Our end-to-end case management service was the clincher as they chose to engage with us.
The Solution
A surveyor visited the property to gather the necessary evidence. During the on-site inspection, they collected data from comparable properties in the area for evidence to analyse.
After the case was built, the surveyor found that there were no grounds to proceed through the Check, Challenge, Appeal (CCA) process, however that it was potentially eligible for our Audit division. As such, our specialist audit team performed a forensic review of their account to identify if any relief-based reductions were possible.
The Outcome
With the data analysed, our teams were able to determine that JPG’s new property was eligible for several reliefs – including Small Business Retail Relief (SBRR), and Retail Hospitality and Leisure (RHL). Not only were they eligible for these reliefs during the 2017 rating list, but also for continuing duration of the 2023 rating list.
Our team immediately sought to have these reliefs applied, and in less than one week the local authority agreed. This resulted in a rebate of over £10,000 (backdated and going forwards), reducing their business rates liability for 2023 to just £150.
Client Comments and Recommendation
“RVA Surveyors have excelled themselves on multiple occasions for my business. I cannot thank Anthony, Kirsty & the rest of the team for taking away a lot of stress from myself. Nothing is too much trouble for RVA […].”
